Project Founded in 1348, the Hospital de la Santa Creu de Vic is an absolute architectural compendium: it still has a Gothic nave, Renaissance façade and courtyard, and a Baroque cloister. A transformation process was initiated in 1987 to convert it into what it is today: an old people?s residence and a geriatric hospital, with a section which attends the needs of the terminally ill, which is a reference point for this type of care in Spain, and an outpatients department. La Santa Creu currently has 178 beds and a staff of around 155.
Requirements The building has undergone constant renovation work aimed at improving its facilities and the quality of the hospital. Given the type of patients which it attends, climate control has always been one of the Management's chief concerns, different systems capable of respecting the delicate state of health of the patients having been tried out.
Solutions In 2002, Movinord?s serene climate control system was chosen for installation in one wing of the hospital, only for heating. When the results were observed, it was installed in a second wing and the cold system for the summer was incorporated some time later. The system has recently been installed in the Alzheimer section. The results show great heat efficiency, low running costs and a suitable atmosphere for a centre of this type. Movinord?s serene climate control system allows for easy control of indoor relative humidity, while maintaining the right temperature at all times. The installations cover more than 2,000 m2 of rooms, corridors and common rooms. The system is fitted into continuous plaster-panel ceilings, demountable ceilings and tiled walls (bathrooms).
